He Wants Obedience
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” What a simple, and easily understood statement from our Lord Jesus Christ. You know, that’s really all He wants from us. He wants us to love Him and to demonstrate that love by doing what He’s commanded.
Throughout the ages men have done all kinds of things to try to give honor to Jesus from building massive cathedrals to burning people at the stake, and yet, all He’s ever asked for is obedience. Of all things, this is probably the one that is most often ignored.
Jesus even talked about this in Matthew 7 when He said, ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “ Jesus then described people who thought they had done many great things for Him but He said to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
The Lord revealed His will to us so that we didn’t have to guess or make up ways to please Him. He’s told us exactly want to do, and then encourages us to simply keep His commandments.
