Get Widsom
If you’re like most folks, you’ve been busy putting together a list of all the things you’d like to get this Christmas. It seems that most of us have very little problem putting together a list of stuff that we’d like to have. As you are working on your list, I’d like you to remember Proverbs 4:7:
“Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”
Wisdom isn’t something that you can put on a Christmas list, and it is something sold at Walmart or Amazon.com, but it is the principle thing all of us need. It’s the one thing we should all be striving to have more of, regardless of any other goals or wishes.
There is only one source of true wisdom. It comes from God, who alone is wise (1 Timothy 1:17). James says if we lack wisdom we should ask of God who will give it liberally. In Ephesians 3:10 Paul tells us that God has revealed His wisdom to us in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and In Matthew 7 Jesus said the wise man is the one who hears His words and does them.
Therefore, in all your getting, get wisdom.
